Privacy Policy
Effective Date: January 1, 2025 · Company: Corsair Labs
Corsair Labs ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting the privacy of every user, especially children. This Privacy Policy describes how our mobile applications — including GuardIan Parental Controls, GuardIan Child, Jenga Master, and Pirates Checkers — collect, use, store, and share information when you use our apps.
1. Information We Collect
The data collected varies by app. The GuardIan suite (Parental Controls & Child) collects the following data from the child's device only when parental monitoring is enabled by an authorized parent or guardian:
- Location (GPS): Real-time and historical GPS coordinates of the child's device.
- Call Logs: Incoming and outgoing call history, including phone numbers, contact names, duration, and timestamps.
- SMS Content: Contents of text messages sent and received on the child's device.
- App Usage: Which apps are installed and how long they are used each day.
- Browser History: URLs and page titles visited in the device's default browser.
- Microphone Audio: Ambient audio recordings when the parent explicitly activates this feature from the parent dashboard.
- Device Identifiers: Device model, OS version, unique device ID (Android ID), and battery level.
Our game apps (Jenga Master and Pirates Checkers) collect only:
- Basic device information (model, OS version) for crash reporting.
- Purchase history (if in-app purchases are made) handled entirely by Google Play Billing — we do not see payment card details.
2. How We Use Your Information
Information collected through the GuardIan apps is used exclusively to:
- Deliver monitoring data to the paired parent account only — no third party other than our infrastructure provider (Firebase) processes this data.
- Send real-time alerts and notifications to the parent app (e.g., geofence breaches, blocked apps).
- Generate usage summaries and reports visible in the parent dashboard.
- Improve app reliability by analyzing crash and performance logs.
We do not use collected data for advertising, analytics profiling, or sale to third parties.
3. Data Storage and Third-Party Services
All monitoring data is stored and processed using the following services:
- Firebase Firestore (Google LLC): Real-time database storing monitoring data. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest.
- Firebase Storage (Google LLC): Used for storing audio recordings and screenshots. Files are access-controlled so only the linked parent account can retrieve them.
- Google Play Billing: Handles all subscription and in-app purchase transactions. We never receive or store payment card information.
Google's privacy policy applies to data processed through Firebase and Google Play: policies.google.com/privacy
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data to any other third party.
4. Data Sharing
Monitored child data is shared only with:
- The authenticated parent account linked to that specific child device via our pairing system.
- Firebase infrastructure as described above.
- Law enforcement or regulatory authorities if required by applicable law.
5. Data Retention
- Location history, call logs, SMS, and browser history are retained for 90 days by default, after which older records are automatically deleted.
- Audio recordings are retained until manually deleted by the parent or until the account is closed.
- Account data is retained for as long as the subscription is active.
- Upon account deletion, all associated data is permanently removed within 30 days.
6. Your Rights and Data Deletion
You have the right to:
- Access all data collected about your child's device.
- Delete specific data entries or all data at any time via the parent dashboard.
- Close your account and request full data deletion by contacting us through our apps.
- Opt out of non-essential data collection at any time through the app settings.
7. Children's Privacy (COPPA)
Our apps are designed to be installed and managed by parents or legal guardians for the purpose of monitoring minor children. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA):
- We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children without verified parental consent.
- All monitoring of a child's device requires active setup and authorization by a parent through the GuardIan Parental Controls app.
- No child data is used for advertising or shared with unauthorized third parties.
- Parents may review, modify, or delete their child's data at any time through the parent app or by contacting us.
If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a child without proper consent, please contact us immediately through our apps and we will delete it promptly.
8. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including:
- TLS encryption for all data in transit.
- AES-256 encryption for data at rest in Firebase.
- Account authentication via Firebase Auth with secure token handling.
- Role-based access controls ensuring only the paired parent account can access child data.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. When we do, we will revise the Effective Date at the top and notify active users via in-app notification. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
